Look Around the League – NFL Week 16

The NFL schedule is filled with plenty of gifts in the form of great games just in time for the holiday season. Heading into Christmas week the National Football League has delivered with another great week of football games which includes many that have incredible story lines or playoff implications.

The Thursday night game on Christmas Eve features the game between the Sand Diego Chargers and the Oakland Raiders. The Raiders do not know if this will be the last game that is played in Oakland which will provide some extra incentive for the Silver and Black, but they also are playing for one of their players. This will be the last game that Hall of Famer Charles Woodson will play in as he has announced his retirement.

On Saturday night the story line is very clear. When the Washington Redskins head to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles the game will have some serious playoff implications. If the Redskins are able to win their third game in a row which includes the second game on the road they will clinch the NFC East. That win would also eliminate the Eagles from the playoffs and send Chip Kelly to the off-season trying to figure out what went wrong.

On Sunday plenty of teams will be looking for wins to stay in the playoff race. This includes the Houston Texans who are trying to win the AFC South without a quarterback, the Kansas City Chiefs who are trying to win their ninth game in a row and the New York Jets who need to beat the New England Patriots if they want to have a shot at staying in the playoffs.  Finally, the Denver Broncos need to beat the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night football if they want to make sure that they will be headed to the playoffs.

The NFL has done it again and everyone will be excited to see the great games that they have served up for the holiday season!
